Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the closing date of online application (05-06-2026). The primary mandatory eligibility requirement is possession of a valid Permanent Resident Certificate of Tripura (PRTC) in pursuance of GA(P&T) Department Notification dated 07-07-2023 – candidates without PRTC are not eligible to apply.
The educational qualification must be from a Government Institute, Government-recognized Institute, or AICTE/UGC-recognized Institute. Knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok is desirable. Candidates must possess the prescribed minimum qualification on the closing date of application submission; admission at all stages is provisional and subject to eligibility verification.

Tripura PSC ATO Recruitment 2026 – Age Limit
Candidates must be at least 18 years and not more than 40 years of age as on 05-06-2026. The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for ST, SC, Physically Handicapped, and Government employee candidates. However, Government Employees belonging to ST/SC/Physically Handicapped category shall not get this additional relaxation over and above the general relaxation of 5 years already available to them.
There is no fixed number of attempts for the examination – candidates can apply and appear multiple times as long as they are otherwise eligible and within the prescribed upper age limit for their category.

Candidates applying for the post of Assistant Technical Officer are required to pay a non-refundable recruitment fee as specified below. The fee must be paid online through the TPSC application portal. Fee paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Tripura PSC ATO Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process
The selection process for TPSC ATO Recruitment 2026 consists of 2 (two) successive stages – a Written Examination of 170 marks (MCQ-based, 3 hours) and an Interview/Personality Test of 30 marks. Candidates who qualify the written examination will be called for the Interview/Personality Test in the ratio as specified below.
No candidate will be called for the personality test unless he/she appears in the written examination. The final merit list and selection will be based on the combined total marks (written + interview), prepared in order of merit. If a candidate remains absent in the interview/personality test, his/her candidature will not be considered for final selection.
The selection list recommended by the Commission remains valid for 6 months from the date of recommendation, extendable up to 1 year in consultation with the Government.

Tripura PSC ATO Recruitment 2026 – Exam Syllabus
The Written Examination consists of two papers – Paper I (General Ability Test, 50 marks) and Paper II (Job Oriented Technical Paper, 120 marks). All questions are OMR-based MCQ type, answered in English only. Negative marking will apply as per TPSC norms amended from time to time. The detailed syllabus is reproduced below from Annexure-B and Annexure-C of the official notification (as published in the Tripura Gazette Extraordinary Issue, February 25, 2026).

How to Apply for Tripura PSC ATO Recruitment 2026
Applications must be submitted online only through the TPSC Online Application Portal, accessible on the official website https://tpsc.tripura.gov.in. Hard copy applications will not be accepted under any circumstances. The online portal will be active from 12-05-2026 to 05-06-2026 (5:30 PM). New users (first-time applicants) must complete One Time Profile Registration (OTPR) on the TPSC website before applying – a User ID will be generated and sent to the registered mobile number/email ID upon successful registration.
Existing OTPR users can directly apply using their User ID. Candidates should avoid submitting multiple applications; if done unavoidably, only the application with the latest Application Number will be considered valid, and fee paid against other application numbers will not be adjusted. After the closing date, a 7-day correction window will be available for making corrections in the application form – no changes are allowed after this window closes. Candidates are not required to upload supporting documents at the time of online application; documents will be called after the written examination result is published.
