The Centre for Continuing Education and Skill Development (CCESD), National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has released an official advertisement for Apprentice Trainee (Graduate and Diploma) positions for the year 2026-27.

This engagement is under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961 for a period of one year. The last date to submit online applications is June 12, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria & Other Conditions

• Only candidates who have completed their qualifying examination as regular candidates and acquired the requisite qualification on or after the year 2022 are eligible.
• Qualifying qualification must be from a University in India or a State Board recognized by the competent authority.
• Candidates currently undergoing apprenticeship training in Govt./Public/Private Sector for one year or more as on the date of joining are not eligible. Combining apprenticeship with other institutions is not permitted.
• Selected candidates must execute a contract of Apprenticeship Training as per the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Amendment Act of 1973.
• Apprentices will have no claim for regular employment in NIT Calicut after completion of training.

NIT Calicut Apprentice Selection Methodology

The evaluation process is as follows:

1. Initial Screening: Applications will be scrutinized and shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and/or written test.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. Selection will be strictly based on academic merit and eligibility.
3. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce all original documents – date of birth proof, mark sheets, educational certificates, caste/disability certificates, etc. Failure to produce originals will result in disqualification.
