1. CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) – Moderate to High Difficulty
CLAT is India’s largest law entrance exam and opens doors to 23 National Law Universities (NLUs).
Why CLAT is considered challenging?
-
50,000+ students compete for ~3300 seats
-
Questions focus on comprehension-based reasoning, making accuracy important
-
Time pressure is high (120 minutes for 120 questions)
-
Requires strong command over Legal Reasoning, English, Logical Reasoning & GK
Difficulty Level: ⭐⭐ ⭐⭐ Moderate–High
Most students find GK & Legal Reasoning the toughest sections.
2. AILET (NLU Delhi) – Very High Difficulty
AILET is considered the toughest law entrance exam in India, mainly because:
-
Only 1 NLU (NLU Delhi) accepts AILET
-
1,00,000+ students compete for just 120 seats
-
Paper is concept-heavy, with high-level Logical Reasoning & English
-
Accuracy and deep understanding matter more than speed
Difficulty Level: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very High
AILET requires advanced concepts + exceptional reading speed.
3. CUET (UG) – Moderate Difficulty
CUET is easier compared to CLAT & AILET but competition is still intense because major universities like Delhi University, BHU, Allahabad University, Jamia participate.
Why CUET is manageable?
-
Exam is mostly NCERT-based
-
English + Domain subjects + General test
-
Questions are relatively direct
-
Speed matters more than critical reasoning
Difficulty Level: ⭐⭐⭐ Moderate
The competition becomes tough due to the large number of applicants.
How Students Should Choose Based on Difficulty Level
