What is IPMAT ?

IPMAT stands for “Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test.” It is an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission to their five-year Integrated Management Programs (IMPs). These programs are designed for students who have completed their higher secondary education (usually 10+2) and are interested in pursuing a career in management.

The IPMAT exam assesses the aptitude and skills of candidates in areas like quantitative ability, verbal ability, and logical reasoning. It’s a comprehensive test that aims to evaluate a student’s potential for management education. The exam pattern and syllabus for IPMAT may vary slightly from year to year and across different IIMs that offer the program.

Candidates who perform well in the IPMAT exam are shortlisted for further rounds of selection, which typically include Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. The final selection is based on a combination of the candidate’s performance in these rounds along with their academic achievements and other relevant factors.

IPMAT is an avenue for students to secure a seat in prestigious management programs directly after completing their higher secondary education, thus providing them an early opportunity to start their journey towards a managerial career.
